Incident dream Explanation — Ibn Sirin (RA) was approached by a person who expressed that he had experienced a very shameful and disturbing dream, feeling too ashamed to reveal its nature. The Imaam asked him to write down the dream on a sheet of paper. He wrote that he had been away from home for three months and that during his absence, he dreamed he had returned home, finding his wife asleep on her bed while two sheep with horns were engaged in battle near her bed. One sheep injured the other. Because of this dream, he had avoided approaching his wife, yet, by Allah, he loved her deeply. When the Imaam read this letter, he advised him not to leave his wife as she was a chaste and honourable woman. He interpreted the dream as follows: “When she heard that you were returning home soon—indeed, you were almost home—she urgently sought something to remove her public hair. Finding nothing, she chose to use scissors instead. In her haste, she injured herself, causing a deep wound in that area of her body. To confirm this, go directly to her and see for yourself.” The man went straight to his wife, expressing his desire to fulfil his needs. She replied: “No! Not until you explain why you avoided me for seven months!” He explained the dream and the interpretation given by the learned Imaam. Upon this, she exclaimed: “The Imaam has spoken the truth.” Then she took his hand and placed it over the cotton wool covering the wound. When he was satisfied, he returned to the Imaam to report his findings. The Imaam praised and glorified Allah for guiding him to the correct interpretation of the dream.
