1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1
$ Sincerity and error 39:1-3
39:1 The sending down of the Book is from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise,
# تَنزِيلُ الكِتَابِ مِنَ اللَّهِ العَزِيزِ الحَكِيمِ 1
39:2 We have sent down the Book with the truth to you (Prophet Muhammad), therefore worship Allah, and make your religion sincerely His.
# إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ فَاعْبُدِ اللَّهَ مُخْلِصاً لَّهُ الدِّينَ 2
39:3 Is it not that the sincere religion belongs to Allah? As for those who choose guardians, other than Him, (saying), ‘We only worship them so that they will bring us near to Allah,’ Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning their differences. Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is an unthankful liar.
# أَلاَ لِلَّهِ الدِّينُ الخَالِصُ وَالَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ مَا نَعْبُدُهُمْ إِلاَّ لِيُقَرِّبُونَا إِلَى اللَّهِ زُلْفَى إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ فِي مَا هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَهْدِي مَنْ هُوَ كَاذِبٌ كَفَّارٌ 3
|@ Allah has no desire for a son 39:4
39:4 If Allah had desired to take a son, He would have chosen whatever He willed out of His creation. Exaltations to Him! He is Allah, the One, the Conqueror.
# لَوْ أَرَادَ اللَّهُ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَداً لاَّصْطَفَى مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ سُبْحَانَهُ هُوَ اللَّهُ الوَاحِدُ القَهَّارُ 4
|@ The sun and the moon 39:5
39:5 He created the heavens and the earth in truth, wrapping the night about the day and wrapping the day about the night, He has subjected the sun and the moon each to run for a stated term. Is He not the Almighty, the Forgiving?
# خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ يُكَوِّرُ اللَّيْلَ عَلَى النَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ النَّهَارَ عَلَى اللَّيْلِ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ يَجْرِي لأَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى أَلاَ هُوَ العَزِيزُ الغَفَّارُ 5
|@ The miracle of conception unknown to physicians at the time of the revelation of the Koran 39:6
39:6 He created you from a single soul, then from it He created its spouse. And He sent down to you eight pairs of the cattle. He creates you in your mothers’ womb, creation after creation, in three (stages of) darkness. Such then is Allah, your Lord. For Him is the Kingdom. There is no god except Him. How, then, can you turn away?
# خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ الأَنْعَامِ ثَمَانِيَةَ أَزْوَاجٍ يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ خَلْقاً مِّنْ بَعْدِ خَلْقٍ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ ثَلاثٍ ذَلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ المُلْكُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ فَأَنَّى تُصْرَفُونَ 6
|@ No one can bear another’s burden for him 39:7
39:7 If you disbelieve, Allah is Rich, independent of you. Yet He does not approve of disbelief to His worshipers, but if you believe He will approve it in you. No laden soul shall bear another’s load. Then, to Allah you shall return and He will tell to you what you have done. He knows the innermost of your chests.
# إِن تَكْفُرُوا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِيٌّ عَنكُمْ وَلاَ يَرْضَى لِعِبَادِهِ الكُفْرَ وَإِن تَشْكُرُوا يَرْضَهُ لَكُمْ وَلاَ تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّكُم مَّرْجِعُكُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ 7
|@ The blessings of Allah and the forgetfulness of the human 39:8
39:8 When an affliction befalls a human, he supplicates to his Lord and turns to Him (in repentance) yet, no sooner does He bestow on him His blessing than he forgets that for which he had just supplicated and sets up associates with Allah in order to lead (people) away from His Path. Say, ‘Enjoy your disbelief for awhile, you shall surely be among the companions of the Fire.
# وَإِذَا مَسَّ الإِنسَانَ ضُرٌّ دَعَا رَبَّهُ مُنِيباً إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلَهُ نِعْمَةً مِّنْهُ نَسِيَ مَا كَانَ يَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ مِن قَبْلُ وَجَعَلَ لِلَّهِ أَندَاداً لِّيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ قُلْ تَمَتَّعْ بِكُفْرِكَ قَلِيلاً إِنَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ 8
|@ Equality 39:9
39:9 Or, is he who is obedient that prostrates himself and stands during parts of the night, being afraid of the Everlasting Life but hoping for the Mercy his Lord (to be compared to the unbeliever)?’ Say, ‘Are they equal, those who know and those who do not know?’ Only those with minds remember.
# أَمَّنْ هُوَ قَانِتٌ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ سَاجِداً وَقَائِماً يَحْذَرُ الآخِرَةَ وَيَرْجُو رَحْمَةَ رَبِّهِ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِي الَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ وَالَّذِينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُوْلُوا الأَلْبَابِ 9
|@ Goodness and patience 39:10
39:10 Say, ‘My worshipers who believe, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world there is good and the earth of Allah is wide, surely, those who are patient will be recompensed in full without count.’
# قُلْ يَا عِبَادِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمْ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ وَأَرْضُ اللَّهِ وَاسِعَةٌ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ 10
|@ Winners and losers 39:11-20
39:11 Say (Prophet Muhammad), ‘I am ordered to worship Allah making my religion sincerely His.
# قُلْ إِنِّي أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ اللَّهَ مُخْلِصاً لَّهُ الدِّينَ 11
39:12 I am ordered to be the first of those to be submissive (Muslims to Him).’
# وَأُمِرْتُ لأَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ المُسْلِمِينَ 12
39:13 Say, ‘Indeed, if I rebel against my Lord I fear the punishment of a dreadful Day.’
# قُلْ إِنِّي أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّي عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ 13
39:14 Say, ‘I worship Allah and make my religion sincerely His.
# قُلِ اللَّهَ أَعْبُدُ مُخْلِصاً لَّهُ دِينِي 14
39:15 (As for yourselves) worship what you will, other than Him.’ Say, ‘The losers are surely those who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Is that not a clear loss?’
# فَاعْبُدُوا مَا شِئْتُم مِّن دُونِهِ قُلْ إِنَّ الخَاسِرِينَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ أَلاَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الخُسْرَانُ المُبِينُ 15
39:16 Above them they shall have layers of fire and beneath them layers. By this Allah puts fear into His worshipers. ‘O My worshipers, fear Me!’
# لَهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ ظُلَلٌ مِّنَ النَّارِ وَمِن تَحْتِهِمْ ظُلَلٌ ذَلِكَ يُخَوِّفُ اللَّهُ بِهِ عِبَادَهُ يَا عِبَادِ فَاتَّقُونِ 16
39:17 Those who shun the worship of idols and turn in repentance to Allah for them glad tidings. Therefore give good tidings to My worshipers,
# وَالَّذِينَ اجْتَنَبُوا الطَّاغُوتَ أَن يَعْبُدُوهَا وَأَنَابُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ لَهُمُ البُشْرَى فَبِشِّرْ عِبَادِ 17
39:18 who listen to the Words and follow what is finest of it. These are they whom Allah has guided. They are those of understanding.
# الَّذِينَ يَسْتَمِعُونَ القَوْلَ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ أَحْسَنَهُ أُوْلَئِكَ الَّذِينَ هَدَاهُمُ اللَّهُ وَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمْ أُوْلُوا الأَلْبَابِ 18
39:19 Can you save from the Fire he whom against the word of punishment has been realized?
# أَفَمَنْ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِ كَلِمَةُ العَذَابِ أَفَأَنْتَ تُنقِذُ مَن فِي النَّارِ 19
39:20 As for those who fear their Lord, there await high mansions above which are built (more) high mansions, beneath which rivers flow, such is the promise of Allah; Allah will not fail His promise.
# لَكِنِ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ غُرَفٌ مِّن فَوْقِهَا غُرَفٌ مَّبْنِيَّةٌ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ لاَ يُخْلِفُ اللَّهُ المِيعَادَ 20
|@ The signs of Allah in plants 39:21
39:21 Have you not seen how Allah sends down water from the sky and threaded it as springs in the earth? Then, He brings forth plants of various colors, after which they wither, and you see them turning yellow, and then He makes them into broken stubble. Surely, in this there is a reminder for those of understanding.
# أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَسَلَكَهُ يَنَابِيعَ فِي الأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُ بِهِ زَرْعاً مُّخْتَلِفاً أَلْوَانُهُ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَاهُ مُصْفَراًّ ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُهُ حُطَاماً إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَذِكْرَى لأُوْلِي الأَلْبَابِ 21
|@ Guidance and rejection 39:22-23
39:22 Is he whose chest Allah has expanded to Islam, so that he walks upon a light from his Lord (as those whose heart is sealed)? But woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the Remembrance of Allah! Those are in clear error.
# أَفَمَن شَرَحَ اللَّهُ صَدْرَهُ لِلإِسْلامِ فَهُوَ عَلَى نُورٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْقَاسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مِّن ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ أُوْلَئِكَ فِي ضَلالٍ مُّبِينٍ 22
39:23 Allah has sent down the best discourse, a Book, con-similar in its oft-repeated (verses) that the skins of those who fear their Lord tremble; and thereafter their skins and hearts soften to the Remembrance of Allah. Such is the Guidance of Allah, whereby He guides whom He will; and whosoever Allah leads astray, he has no guide.
# اللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ الحَدِيثِ كِتَاباً مُّتَشَابِهاً مَّثَانِيَ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُ الَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ ثُمَّ تَلِينُ جُلُودُهُمْ وَقُلُوبُهُمْ إِلَى ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ذَلِكَ هُدَى اللَّهِ يَهْدِي بِهِ مَن يَشَاءُ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ هَادٍ 23
|@ Honor and dishonor 39:24-27
39:24 Is he whose face is cautious of the evil of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection (to be compared to the unbeliever)! To the evildoers it shall be said,’Now taste that which you have been earning.’
# أَفَمَن يَتَّقِي بِوَجْهِهِ سُوءَ العَذَابِ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ وَقِيلَ لِلظَّالِمِينَ ذُوقُوا مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ 24
39:25 Those who went before them also belied, then Our punishment overtook them from where they were unaware;
# كَذَّبَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَاهُمُ العَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ 25
39:26 Allah let them taste degradation in this present life, but the punishment of the Everlasting Life shall be greater if they but knew.
# فَأَذَاقَهُمُ اللَّهُ الخِزْيَ فِي الحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَلَعَذَابُ الآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ 26
39:27 Indeed, We have struck of every manner of parable for mankind in this Koran in order that they will remember.
# وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِي هَذَا القُرْآنِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ 27
|@ The Arabic Koran is protected by Allah 39:28
39:28 It is an Arabic Koran free from all crookedness, in order that they will be cautious.
# قُرْآناً عَرَبِياًّ غَيْرَ ذِي عِوَجٍ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ 28
|@ Parable of equality 39:29
39:29 Allah has struck an example of a man shared by disagreeing partners, and a man who is owned by just one man, are the two equally alike? Praise belongs to Allah, but most of them do not know.
# ضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلاً رَّجُلاً فِيهِ شُرَكَاءُ مُتَشَاكِسُونَ وَرَجُلاً سَلَماً لِّرَجُلٍ هَلْ يَسْتَوِيَانِ مَثَلاً الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ 29
|@ Disputes will be settled on the Day of Resurrection 39:30-31
39:30 You are mortal, and they are mortal
# إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُم مَّيِّتُونَ 30
39:31 then, on the Day of Resurrection, you shall dispute before your Lord.
# ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ 31
|@ Those Allah guides are not led astray 39:32-37
39:32 Who does greater evil than he who lies against Allah and belies the truth when it comes to him? Is there not a lodging in Gehenna (Hell) for the unbelievers?
# فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَذَبَ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَكَذَّبَ بِالصِّدْقِ إِذْ جَاءَهُ أَلَيْسَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوًى لِّلْكَافِرِينَ 32
39:33 And he who comes with the truth, and confirms it, those are they who surely fear Allah.
# وَالَّذِي جَاءَ بِالصِّدْقِ وَصَدَّقَ بِهِ أُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ المُتَّقُونَ 33
39:34 They shall have whatever they want with their Lord, that is the recompense of the good doers,
# لَهُم مَّا يَشَاءُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ذَلِكَ جَزَاءُ المُحْسِنِينَ 34
39:35 that Allah may acquit them of the worst of what they did, and recompense with the finest wages for what they did.
# لِيُكَفِّرَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ أَسْوَأَ الَّذِي عَمِلُوا وَيَجْزِيَهُمْ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ الَّذِي كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ 35
39:36 Is it not that Allah suffices His worshiper, even though they frighten you with those other than Him? He whom Allah leads astray has no guide.
# أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِكَافٍ عَبْدَهُ وَيُخَوِّفُونَكَ بِالَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ هَادٍ 36
39:37 But he whom Allah guides, none can lead astray. Is not Allah the Almighty, capable of retribution?
# وَمَن يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِن مُّضِلٍّ أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِعَزِيزٍ ذِي انتِقَامٍ 37
|@ Trust in Allah and His Mercy 39:38
39:38 If you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will reply, ‘Allah.’ Say, ‘Do you think that, if Allah wills to afflict me those you call upon, other than Him, could remove His affliction, or, that if He wills to let me have mercy, they could withhold His Mercy?’ Say, ‘Allah suffices me. Those who put their trust, put their trust in Him.’
# وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ قُلْ أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَادَنِيَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ هَلْ هُنَّ كَاشِفَاتُ ضُرِّهِ أَوْ أَرَادَنِي بِرَحْمَةٍ هَلْ هُنَّ مُمْسِكَاتُ رَحْمَتِهِ قُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ يَتَوَكَّلُ المُتَوَكِّلُونَ 38
|@ Loss and gain 39:39-41
39:39 Say, ‘O nation, work according to your status, I am working according to my status, and soon you will know
# قُلْ يَا قَوْمِ اعْمَلُوا عَلَى مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّي عَامِلٌ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ 39
39:40 upon whom the punishment will come that will degrade him, and who will be overtaken by an everlasting punishment.’
# مَن يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ يُخْزِيهِ وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ 40
39:41 Surely, We have sent down to you the Book for mankind with the truth. Whosoever is guided, is guided for himself, and he who goes astray, it is only for his own loss, you (Prophet Muhammad) are not their (compulsory) guardian.
# إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الكِتَابَ لِلنَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ فَمَنِ اهْتَدَى فَلِنَفْسِهِ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا وَمَا أَنْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ 41
|@ Our life span is already determined 39:42
39:42 Allah takes away souls at the time of their death (the temporary death of sleep), and those who do not die during their sleep He withholds that upon which He has decreed death, but turns lose the other till a stated term. Surely, there are signs in this for a nation who contemplate.
# اللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى الأَنفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا وَالَّتِي لَمْ تَمُتْ فِي مَنَامِهَا فَيُمْسِكُ الَتِي قَضَى عَلَيْهَا المَوْتَ وَيُرْسِلُ الأُخْرَى إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُّسْمًّى إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ 42
|@ Intercession 39:43-44
39:43 Have (the unbelievers) they chosen, other than Allah, to intercede for them? Say, ‘What, even though they have no power at all, nor understanding?’
# أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ شُفَعَاءَ قُلْ أَوَ لَوْ كَانُوا لاَ يَمْلِكُونَ شَيْئاً وَلاَ يَعْقِلُونَ 43
39:44 Say, ‘Intercession belongs altogether to Allah. His is the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth. To Him you shall be returned.’
# قُل لِّلَّهِ الشَّفَاعَةُ جَمِيعاً لَّهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ 44
|@ When hearts shrink in aversion 39:45
39:45 When Allah is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Everlasting Life shrink in aversion. But when those, other than Him, are mentioned, see, they are filled with glad tidings.
# وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ اشْمَأَزَّتْ قُلُوبُ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالآخِرَةِ وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ الَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ 45
|@ Allah will judge between the differences 39:46
39:46 Say, ‘O Allah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth who has knowledge of the Unseen and Visible, You shall judge between the differences of Your worshipers.’
# قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ عَالِمَ الغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ أَنْتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِي مَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ 46
|@ The Day of Resurrection 39:47-48
39:47 On the Day of Resurrection, if the harm doers owned all that is in the earth and as much again besides, they would offer it to ransom themselves from the evil of the punishment. From Allah will come to them that with which they had never reckoned,
# وَلَوْ أَنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مَا فِي الأَرْضِ جَمِيعاً وَمِثْلَهُ مَعَهُ لافْتَدَوْا بِهِ مِن سُوءِ العَذَابِ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ وَبَدَا لَهُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يَكُونُوا يَحْتَسِبُونَ 47
39:48 and the evils of their earnings will appear to them, and that which they mocked at will encompass them.
# وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ 48
|@ The ingratitude of mankind 39:49-52
39:49 When an affliction befalls a human he calls upon Us, but when We confer Our Favor on him, he says, ‘I have only been given it on account of knowledge.’ Rather, it is but a trial, yet most do not know.
# فَإِذَا مَسَّ الإِنسَانَ ضُرٌّ دَعَانَا ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلْنَاهُ نِعْمَةً مِّنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَا أُوتِيتُهُ عَلَى عِلْمٍ بَلْ هِيَ فِتْنَةٌ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ 49
39:50 Those before them said the same, but what they earned did not help them;
# قَدْ قَالَهَا الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَمَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ 50
39:51 and the evil of their earnings coiled upon them. The harm doers among these will also be coiled by the evils of their earnings, they will be unable to defeat it.
# فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا وَالَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْ هَؤُلاءِ سَيُصِيبُهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا وَمَا هُم بُمُعْجِزِينَ 51
39:52 Do they not know that Allah outspreads and withholds His provision to whosoever He will? Surely, there are signs in this for a believing nation.
# أَوَ لَمْ يَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ وَيَقْدِرُ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ 52
|@ Allah knows the multiple shortcomings of His worshipers and comforts us by telling us not to despair of His Mercy 39:53-58
39:53 Say, ‘O My worshipers, who have sinned excessively against themselves, do not despair of the Mercy of Allah, surely, Allah forgives all sins. He is the Forgiver, the Most Merciful.
# قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ لاَ تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعاً إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ 53
39:54 Turn to your Lord and surrender yourselves to Him before the punishment overtakes you, for then you will not be helped.
# وَأَنِيبُوا إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ وَأَسْلِمُوا لَهُ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ العَذَابُ ثُمَّ لاَ تُنصَرُونَ 54
39:55 Follow the best of what has been sent down from your Lord before the punishment overtakes you suddenly, while you are unaware.’
# وَاتَّبِعُوا أَحْسَنَ مَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ العَذَابُ بَغْتَةً وَأَنْتُمْ لاَ تَشْعُرُونَ 55
39:56 Lest any soul should say, ‘Sadly, I have neglected my duty to Allah and was of those that mocked.’
# أَن تَقُولَ نَفْسٌ يَا حَسْرَتَى عَلَى مَا فَرَّطتُ فِي جَنبِ اللَّهِ وَإِن كُنتُ لَمِنَ السَّاخِرِينَ 56
39:57 Or, lest it should say, ‘If Allah had only guided me I would have been one of the cautious.’
# أَوْ تَقُولَ لَوْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ هَدَانِي لَكُنتُ مِنَ المُتَّقِينَ 57
39:58 Or, lest when it sees the punishment should say, ‘O that I might return, and be among those that did good!’
# أَوْ تَقُولَ حِينَ تَرَى العَذَابَ لَوْ أَنَّ لِي كَرَّةً فَأَكُونَ مِنَ المُحْسِنِينَ 58
|@ satan was cast from Paradise, never to return, because of his sin of pride but most of humanity never paid attention to this lesson and are too proud to worship Allah 39:59-61
39:59 ‘Indeed, My verses did come to you, but you belied them. You were proud and became one of the unbelievers.’
# بَلَى قَدْ جَاءَتْكَ آيَاتِي فَكَذَّبْتَ بِهَا وَاسْتَكْبَرْتَ وَكُنتَ مِنَ الكَافِرِينَ 59
39:60 On the Day of Resurrection, you shall see those who lied about Allah with blackened faces. In Gehenna is there not a lodging for those who were proud?
# وَيَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ تَرَى الَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ وَجُوهُهُم مُّسْوَدَّةٌ أَلَيْسَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوًى لِّلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ 60
39:61 But, Allah will save those who fear Him with their winnings (Paradise). No evil shall touch them, nor shall they ever grieve.
# وَيُنَجِّي اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا بِمَفَازَتِهِمْ لاَ يَمَسُّهُمُ السُّوءُ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ 61
|@ Losers and winners 39:62-66
39:62 Allah is the Creator of all things, and of all things He is the Guardian.
# اللَّهُ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ 62
39:63 To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. Those who disbelieve in the verses of Allah they are the losers.
# لَهُ مَقَالِيدُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ أُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الخَاسِرُونَ 63
39:64 Say, ‘O you who are ignorant, is it other than Allah that you would order me to worship?’
# قُلْ أَفَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ تَأْمُرُونِّي أَعْبُدُ أَيُّهَا الجَاهِلُونَ 64
39:65 It has already been revealed to you and to those who have gone before you, that if you associate (partners) with Allah, your works would be annulled and you will be among the losers.
# وَلَقَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشْرَكْتَ لَيَحْبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الخَاسِرِينَ 65
39:66 No, worship Allah and be with those who give thanks!
# بَلِ اللَّهَ فَاعْبُدْ وَكُن مِّنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ 66
|@ The Day of Resurrection 39:67-75
39:67 They have not valued Allah with His true value. But on the Day of Resurrection, the entire earth will be in His grip, and the heavens shall be rolled up upon His Right. Exaltations to Him! Exalted high is He above all that they associate!
# وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ وَالأَرْضُ جَمِيعاً قَبْضَتُهُ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ وَالسَّمَوَاتُ مَطْوِيَّاتٌ بِيَمِينِهِ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ 67
39:68 The Horn shall be blown and all who are in heavens and earth shall swoon, except those whom Allah wills. Then, the Horn will blow again and they shall stand and gaze.
# وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَصَعِقَ مَن فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَن فِي الأَرْضِ إِلاَّ مَن شَاءَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيهِ أُخْرَى فَإِذَا هُمْ قِيَامٌ يَنظُرُونَ 68
39:69 The earth will shine with the Light of its Lord, and the Book (of deeds) will be set (in place). The Prophets and witnesses shall be brought and the matter will be justly decided between them, and they will not be wronged.
# وَأَشْرَقَتِ الأَرْضُ بِنُورِ رَبِّهَا وَوُضِعَ الكِتَابُ وَجِيءَ بِالنَّبِيِّينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُم بِالْحَقِّ وَهُمْ لاَ يُظْلَمُونَ 69
39:70 Every soul shall be paid in full according to what it has done, for He knows well what they did.
# وَوُفِّيَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَفْعَلُونَ 70
39:71 In companies the unbelievers shall be driven into Gehenna. As they draw near, its gates will be opened and its keepers will ask them, ‘Did there not come to you Messengers of your own, who recited to you the verses of your Lord and warned you of the encounter of this your Day?’ ‘Yes indeed,’ they will answer. And the word of the punishment has been realized against the unbelievers.
# وَسِيقَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ زُمَراً حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءُوهَا فُتِحَتْ أَبْوَابُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَا أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّنكُمْ يَتْلُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتِ رَبِّكُمْ وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْ لِقَاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا قَالُوا بَلَى وَلَكِنْ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَةُ العَذَابِ عَلَى الكَافِرِينَ 71
39:72 It will be said to them, ‘Enter the gates of Gehenna and live there forever.’ Evil is the lodging place of the proud.
# قِيلَ ادْخُلُوا أَبْوَابَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا فَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى المُتَكَبِّرِينَ 72
39:73 Then, those that feared their Lord shall be driven in companies into Paradise. When they draw near its gates will be opened, and its keepers will say to them, ‘Peace be upon you, you have done well. Enter and live in it forever.’
# وَسِيقَ الَذينَ اتَّقَوْا رَبَّهُمْ إِلَى الجَنَّةِ زُمَراً حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءُوهَا وَفُتِحَتْ أَبْوَابُهَا وَقَالَ لَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَا سَلامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ طِبْتُمْ فَادْخُلُوهَا خَالِدِينَ 7
|@ Allah is true to His promise 39:74-75
39:74 They will say, ‘Praise belongs to Allah who has been true to His promise to us and given us the earth to inherit, that we shall live in Paradise wherever we wish.’ How excellent is the recompense of those that labor!
# وَقَالُوا الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي صَدَقَنَا وَعْدَهُ وَأَوْرَثَنَا الأَرْضَ نَتَبَوَّأُ مِنَ الجَنَّةِ حَيْثُ نَشَاءُ فَنِعْمَ أَجْرُ العَامِلِينَ 74
39:75 And you shall see the angels encircling the Throne exalting with the praise of their Lord. And the matter will be justly decided between them, and it shall be said, ‘Praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the Worlds!’
# وَتَرَى المَلائِكَةَ حَافِّينَ مِنْ حَوْلِ العَرْشِ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُم بِالْحَقِّ وَقِيلَ الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ العَالَمِينَ 75
|@AL GHAFIR 40 The Forgiver – Ghafir
1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1
40:1 HaMeem.
# حم 1
40:2 The sending down of the Book is from Allah, the Almighty, the Knower.
# تَنزِيلُ الكِتَابِ مِنَ اللَّهِ العَزِيزِ العَلِيمِ 2
$ Allah forgives sins and accepts repentance 4:3
40:3 The Forgiver of sins and the Acceptor of repentance. Stern in retribution, the Bountiful, there is no god except He and to Him is the arrival.
# غَافِرِ الذَّنبِ وَقَابِلِ التَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ العِقَابِ ذِي الطَّوْلِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ إِلَيْهِ المَصِيرُ 3
|@ False arguments that refute the truth 40:4-6
40:4 None but the unbelievers dispute concerning the verses of Allah. So do not be deluded by their going to and fro in the land.
# مَا يُجَادِلُ فِي آيَاتِ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَلاَ يَغْرُرْكَ تَقَلُّبُهُمْ فِي البِلادِ 4
40:5 The nation of Noah before them belied, and so did the parties after them. Every nation strove against their Messenger to seize him, disputing with false arguments to refute the truth. Then I seized them, how was My punishment!
# كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَالأَحْزَابُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ وَجَادَلُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا بِهِ الحَقَّ فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ 5
40:6 And so it is that the Word of your Lord shall be realized against the unbelievers they are the inhabitants of the Fire.
# وَكَذَلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ 6
|@ The angels supplicate to Allah for the forgiveness His worshipers 40:7-9
40:7 Those who bear the Throne and those around it exalt with the praise of their Lord and believe in Him. They ask forgiveness for the believers (saying), ‘Our Lord, You embrace all things in mercy and knowledge. Forgive those who repent and follow Your Way. Shield them against the punishment of Hell.
# الَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ العَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ رَّحْمَةً وَعِلْماً فَاغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ الجَحِيمِ 7
40:8 Admit them, Our Lord, to the Gardens of Eden which You have promised them, together with those who were righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring. You are the Almighty, the Wise,
# رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ الَتِي وَعَدتَّهُمْ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ العَزِيزُ الحَكِيمُ 8
40:9 and guard them against all evil deeds. Whosoever You guarded against evil deeds on that Day, surely, You have had mercy upon them, and that is indeed the mighty triumph.’
# وَقِهِمُ السَّيِّئَاتِ وَمَن تَقِ السَّيِّئَاتِ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمْتَهُ وَذَلِكَ هُوَ الفَوْزُ العَظِيمُ 9
|@ The Day of no return 40:10-12
40:10 It shall be proclaimed to the unbelievers, ‘Surely, the hatred of Allah for you is greater than your hatred of yourselves. You were called to belief but disbelieved.’
# إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُنَادَوْنَ لَمَقْتُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ مِن مَّقْتِكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ إِذْ تُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى الإِيمَانِ فَتَكْفُرُونَ 10
40:11 They shall say, ‘Our Lord, twice You have made us die, and twice You have given us life, now, we confess our sins. Is there any way we can be brought out of this?’
# قَالُوا رَبَّنَا أَمَتَّنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَحْيَيْتَنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَاعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلْ إِلَى خُرُوجٍ مِّن سَبِيلٍ 11
40:12 (They shall be answered), ‘That is because you disbelieved when Allah alone was supplicated to, but when others were associated with Him you believed.’ Judgement belongs to Allah, the Most High, the Great.
# ذَلِكُم بِأَنَّهُ إِذَا دُعِيَ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ كَفَرْتُمْ وَإِن يُشْرَكْ بِهِ تُؤْمِنُوا فَالْحُكْمُ لِلَّهِ العَلِيِّ الكَبِيرِ 12
|@ Sincerity 40:13-14
40:13 It is He who shows to you His signs and sends down your provision from the sky. Yet no one remembers except he who is penitent.
# هُوَ الَّذِي يُرِيكُمْ آيَاتِهِ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُم مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ رِزْقاً وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ إِلاَّ مَن يُنِيبُ 13
40:14 Supplicate then to Allah making your religion sincerely His, even though the unbelievers oppose it.
# فَادْعُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الكَافِرُونَ 14
|@ Allah alone sends down the Revelation 40:15-16
40:15 Exalter in ranks, Owner of the Throne. He lets the spirit (the revelation) descend at His order on those of His worshipers whom He chooses, in order that He warns of the Day of the Meeting;
# رَفِيعُ الدَّرَجَاتِ ذُو العَرْشِ يُلْقِي الرُّوحَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ عَلَى مَن يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ لِيُنذِرَ يَوْمَ التَّلاقِ 15
40:16 the Day when they shall rise up with nothing hidden from Allah. And who is the Owner of the Kingdom on that Day? Allah, the One, the Conqueror!
# يَوْمَ هُم بَارِزُونَ لاَ يَخْفَى عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْهُمْ شَيْءٌ لِّمَنِ المُلْكُ اليَوْمَ لِلَّهِ الوَاحِدِ القَهَّارِ 16
|@ Allah judges with justice 40:17-20
40:17 On that Day every soul shall be recompensed for its earnings and on that Day none shall be wronged. The reckoning of Allah is swift.
# الْيَوْمَ تُجْزَى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ لاَ ظُلْمَ اليَوْمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَرِيعُ الحِسَابِ 17
40:18 Warn them against the Imminent Day when, choking with anguish, the hearts will be in their throats, the harm doers will not have a single, loyal friend, and there will be no intercessor to be obeyed.
# وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ الآزِفَةِ إِذِ القُلُوبُ لَدَى الحَنَاجِرِ كَاظِمِينَ مَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ حَمِيمٍ وَلاَ شَفِيعٍ يُطَاعُ 18
40:19 He (Allah) knows the furtive looks of the eyes and what the chests conceal.
# يَعْلَمُ خَائِنَةَ الأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِي الصُّدُورُ 19
40:20 With justice Allah will judge, but those upon whom they call, other than Him, can not judge anything at all! Allah is the Hearer, the Seer.
# وَاللَّهُ يَقْضِي بِالْحَقِّ وَالَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ لاَ يَقْضُونَ بِشَيْءٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ البَصِيرُ 20
